USA/CRO - USA suffer first loss

RIGA (2011 FIBA U19 World Championship) - USA has lost their first game at the FIBA U19 World Championships but it has not prevented them from securing the number one sport in Group F.
The game was closely fought from start to finish with the only exception being at the end of the third quarter, when Croatia was able to gain a substantial 12 point lead. However, as expected the USA came out firing in the final quarter and when Patric Young slammed it home with four minutes remaining, the USA was back in front.
But with 48 seconds remaining young point guard Toni Katic - who proved to be the difference between the two teams - was able to go to the basket and the draw the foul in the process to claim the and one, shifting the momentum back in favor of the Croats.
With the clock running down the USA fouled in the hope that Croatia would miss their free throws, a tactic that kept the USA within touching distance. The scoreboard read 85-87 when Jeremy Lamb was given the responsibility of scoring the final two points to tie the game up he could not convert, seeing USA experience their first loss in Latvia.

The result means Croatia claim second spot ahead of Lithuania meaning the USA and Lithuania find themselves on the same side of the draw.
