BRA - Beach Basketball in Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO (CBB) – Brazil has proved there are no barriers when it comes to playing basketball.

A Beach Basketball Tournament was staged on the golden sands of Rio on Sunday, with the country’s basketball federation providing technical support for the event.

On an 8m x8m court, games of two-on-two were played.

Young Brazil international center Cristina Araújo took part in the festivities.

“I had a great day,” she said.

“It's funny to play on the beach. It was difficult to get used to running in the sand, but I got the hang of it after the first game. It was a good way to spend a Sunday morning.”

Araújo was supposed to play for her country at the U19 FIBA World Championship in Thailand last year but injury prevented her from travelling to Thailand and taking part.
