NIEUWEGEIN (2012 FIBA U17 World Championship for Women) – Tickets for the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship for Women – which will be held in Amsterdam from 17 to 26 August – are now officially on sale.
The opening of ticket sales – a process carried out entirely online through the event website – marks a new milestone in the countdown to the tournament.
Ticket sales are broadly supported by social media and various marketing activities.
“For the FIBA U17 World Championship for Women, we have initiated various creative promotional activities,” said Corine Ridder, Marketing Manager for the tournament’s Local Organising Committee (LOC).
“In this way, we hope to attract many additional visitors to the event.
"Furthermore on the Streetball Masters, the streetbasketball tour of the Dutch Basketball Federation, the spotlight is firmly fixed on the approaching World Championship. Streetball Masters participants can win free tickets for the event. In doing so, an important group – young basketball players – are directly targeted. As well as this, the event is increasingly being promoted through social media."
Tickets provide full-day access for visitors to all the games and to all side activities in the Basketball Experience.
During the Preliminary Round, tickets cost €5 for children and €8 for adults. For the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals, tickets are €7 and €10. Prices are €9 and €12 for the Final Day. A surcharge of €2 is applied when buying tickets directly at the event. Packages to get tickets for multiple days are available at reduced prices.

The event is now fast approaching for all involved – players, teams, organising committee and staff - and it is a particularly exciting time for the home team.
“The players realise how special it is to play a World Championship in their own country. If you talk to them about it, you see the glitter in their eyes. And I think you can see the same glitter in mine,” said Dutch team manager Simon van Rooijen.
