CANBERRA (2010 FIBA World Championship for Women) - Australia international Lauren Jackson is only 28 years of age but has been such a good player in Canberra over the years that there's already talk of a statue being put up in her honor.
The MVP of Canberra's 75-70 Gran Final triumph in Melbourne over Bulleen on Saturday, Jackson will represent Australia at the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic.
The Chief Minister of the Australia Capital Territory, Jon Stanhope, says Jackson's achievements need to be set in stone.
He said: “Lauren Jackson is regarded as the world's best - for me there's logic in according her the same honor we've given to Laurie Daley and Mal Meninga.”
The statue of Jackson would be placed at either the AIS Arena or a new Basketball ACT centre of excellence which will be built in the coming years.
