ATHENS (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Konstantinos Kaimakoglou has been one the Greek basketball league’s top players in recent times.
He’s certainly never been better than at the start of 2010.
The Greece international, who is fighting for a spot in the national team for the FIBA World Championship in Turkey, turned in solid performance after solid performance and as a result has been recognized as the Player of the Month.
Kaimakoglou led Maroussi to five wins in as many domestic league games in January.
They are 12-2 in the league and only trail Olympiacos and Panathinaikos (both 13-1).
"This January was a very difficult month because it included critical games with difficult opponents," Kaimakoglou said.
"We are very pleased that we managed to win them all. Also, I am glad I helped as much as I could. The success is down to teamwork, though."
The wins are not only coming in the domestic competition.
Maroussi on Thursday night came up with an 80-78 victory over Panathinaikos in the Euroleague.
Zoran Erceg, meanwhile, is trying to earn a spot in Serbia’s squad later this year and he’s going to have a great chance of doing that.
Erceg, who plays for Panionios, had a terrific January as well and finished second in the Player of the Month voting.
