Eurocup review – DKV off to winning start in Eurocup Last 16

BADALONA (Eurocup) - Uros Tripkovic and DKV Joventut got their Last 16 campaign in the Eurocup off to a winning start on Tuesday night.

Serbia international Tripkovic led the Badalona outfit with 13 points in a 74-72 home triumph over Aris Thessaloniki, the club now coached by Russia national team boss David Blatt.

Also in Group I, Julius Jenkins poured in 27 points as Alba Berlin claimed a 68-63 victory at Le Mans.

Jenkins was just one of six inside the arc but buried five of nine beyond it. He also made all 10 of his attempts from the free-throw line.

Brazil international Joao Paulo Batista had 18 points for Le Mans.

In Group J, Power Electronics Valencia weren't able to pull off another big home win following Saturday's late ACB triumph over Barcelona.

Neven Spahija's team got a game-high 23 points from France international Nando De Colo but slipped to a 79-75 defeat to Hapoel Jerusalem.

Galatasaray Cafe Crown also slipped to a home defeat, falling 85-79 to Unics Kazan.

New signing Maciej Lampe of Poland had 17 points and eight rebounds for Unics, while Lithuania's Simas Jasaitis led all scorers with 21 points in defeat.

In Group K, Panellinios BC prevailed 70-62 over Brose Baskets and Benetton Basket fell at home to Bizkaia Bilbao, 76-69.

Red Star Belgrade and Gran Canaria won their Group L games.

Mike Taylor poured in 19 points in Red Star's 65-60 victory over Nymburk and Senegal international Sitapha Savane led the Canary Islanders with 15 points in a 73-65 victory over Turk Telekom.
