I am on my way to the Greek capital, but before I leave to cover the nightlife in Athens....I mean the basketball action there, I hit you guys with another potpourri of basketball-related news:
Chris Owens is complaining about his European adventures.
Here is a free advice: Stop crying and play better so you can get to the holy NBA....I bet the places like Utah or Minneapolis must be sizzling and more thrilling then Berlin or Istanbul...NOT!
My beloved countrymen (Sounds quite cheesy... but you know, Mexicanos got a knack for cheesy stuff, we invented the telenovelas!) are either in negotiations (Eduardo Najera may end up in New Jersey) or are playing in the NBA Summerleague.
Apparently, Romel Beck is back in the US after a strong season in the land of pasta and pizza and hopefully gets his chance in Las Vegas to shine, this time with the Cavs.
Lorenzo Mata-Real is going to suit up for his hometown Lakers but I doubt he is going to end up on the team and may sign for the D-Fenders in the D-League or in Mexico instead.
Hopefully, those two will be standouts in Vegas and are going to rock the clubs there...I mean the teams...
I would not wonder if we see Anthony Lever-Pedroza on a roster in Utah at the Rocky Mountain Revue, let's wait...and check his website in the meanwhile.
The rest of the Mexican national-team is currently in Uruguay and wrote history by beating the Urus on their own ground.Que viva Mexico!
The L.A. Clippers renounced the rights to Boniface Ndong.....huh? How did that happen?
He gets paid triple of the money in Europe compared to the money the Clips spend on him back in the days (2005) when he made their roster...guess it means Boniface can sign a deal with any NBA-team that wants him, but I doubt we will see this great player in the US anytime soon, too mucho dinero en Malaga.
(Yeah, I know that sounds awful too, I leave it like that. "No tengo dinero" was one of mis favoritos back in the 80's)
The same team signed Baron "New Edition" Davis...now Baron is going to skate on Venice Beach the next season while Kaman might be joining him with a e-guitar and a hat worn by Slash before...
I even like the making-of this clip:
Speaking of Kaman, the "Germerican" is set to play in tonight's game against Canada in Mannheim.
I wonder if he already knows about the different rules here in Europe and the names of his teammates.
A late addition to the team, he may experience some difficulties these days.
I would love to take a trip to Madrid, as the Angolan national-team prepares for the Olympics and plays the U-23 of Spain this week.
If the U.S. national-team doesn't need him, how about a little bit of funding for the Kenyan national-team and he could play for them in the African Championships next year...
Daniel Santiago is obviously my favorite player on the roster...If you know where I can get a Unicaja-jersey, send me a message.
Joel Jones is the other player I really liked in the games I've seen these days.
This guy can shoot the lights out.
I'm hoping that the Boriqua will bring a bunch of fans with them as they are really entertaining and know how to party!
According to Muevetebasket, there will be no Gijon, Huelva and Cantabria in next year's edition of the LEB Oro (Spain's second division).
Axarquia (LEB Silver) and La Palma (Originally relegated to LEB Silver) are going to fill up the spots left and already submitted all the necessary paperwork to the Spanish Basketball Federation who approved their participation last Wednesday.
Imagine they will be holding a barbecue during the game (Indoor-BBQ !), and there will be ethnical pop-turbo-folk music blasting out the speakers while fans will be arguing allover about the game and won't stop until they are way to drunk from the ouzo-rakia-slivovitza sold at the games....Where can I book my trip ?
I'm out like a Clipper without roller skates or a presidential candidate with a shirt tucked into his pants...
