Traditionally, in the USA, basketball is a very popular college/university sport.
The National Collegiate Atheletics Association (NCAA) is the governing body for all U.S. college and university sports.
Basketball is does not play such as an important role in colleges and universities outside the United States, yet it still holds its tradition as a typical college/university sport.
