03/07/2008PR N°42 - Slight modifications in the schedules of both FIBA Diamond Balls

GENEVA (FIBA Diamond Ball) - Upon requests made by the Chinese Basketball Association yesterday, FIBA would like to announce that the game schedules of the 2008 FIBA Diamond Ball for Men and the 2008 FIBA Diamond Ball for Women have been slightly modified.

The 3rd FIBA Diamond Ball for Men will be played in the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, in Nanjing City, China, from 29th July to 1st August 2008, while the 2nd FIBA Diamond Ball for Women will take place in the Haining City Gimnasium Center, in Haining City, Zhejiang Province, China, from 2nd to 5th August 2008.

Below are the new schedules for both FIBA Diamond Balls. Please note that there are two modifications affecting the sequence of games on two competition dates only: on 30th July (FIBA Diamond Ball for Men) and 3rd August 2008 (FIBA Diamond Ball for Women).


3rd FIBA DIAMOND BALL FOR MEN (Nanjing City, China, from 29th July to 1st August 2008)


1. Composition of groups:


Group A: Angola, Australia and China

Group B: Argentina, Iran and Serbia


2. Schedule:

Please note that all hours listed on the below schedule are local time in Nanjing City:


29th July 2008:

16:00 hours: Argentina vs. Iran

19:30 hours: China vs. Angola


30th July 2008:

16:00 hours: Australia vs. China

19:30 hours: Iran vs. Serbia

31st July 2008:

16:00 hours: Angola vs. Australia

19:30 hours: Serbia vs. Argentina


1st August 2008:

14:00 hours: A3 vs. B3

16:00 hours: A2 vs. B2

19:30 hours: A1 vs. B1

Note: Unless playing in the A1 vs. B1 game, China's game will be played at 16:00 hours.



2nd FIBA DIAMOND BALL FOR WOMEN (Haining City, China, from 2nd to 5th August 2008)

Group A: Australia, China and Mali

Group B: Latvia, Russia and USA


2. Schedule:

2nd August 2008:

15:30 hours: Russia vs. Latvia

19:30 hours: Mali vs. China


3rd August 2008:

15:30 hours: China vs. Australia

19:30 hours: Latvia vs. USA


4th August 2008:

15:30 hours: Australia vs. Mali

19:30 hours: USA vs. Russia


5th August 2008:

14:00 hours: A3 vs. B3
