Overview
The FIBA Research Study Centre was founded to help equip and increase the number of sports facilities throughout the world, encourage the construction of basic facilities and the refurbishment of older ones, co-ordinate research initiatives and offer consulting services for materials, equipment design and construction.

As of 1st of January 2003 the Study Centre has become part of FIBA World based in Geneva, Switzerland.

While Mr. Aldo Vitale is still the director of the department, Karen Strahl has been appointed as the FIBA Research and Study Centre Manager.

Activities
The Study Centre produces publications (Guide to basketball facilities, Safety Standards, etc.) which provide technical assistance.

The objective is to attain a high standard of quality, safety and high-tech, both for the athletes and for the public, as well as for the media whose demands were also growing at the rate of knots. This could only be obtained by a constant control and inspection of facilities and equipment.

The partners of the Study Centre, whose products are approved by FIBA, provide the sport equipment in the following categories: Backboard Support Units, Wooden Floorings Synthetic, Floorings Electronic Scoreboards, Electric and Electronic System, Seating Systems, Miscellaneous Products, Basketballs.
