Academy
The FIBA Academy is the educational division of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and was established in 2008 to deliver world-class academic programmes, in order to ensure that FIBA administrators and event organisers, as well as former athletes, coaches and other members from the basketball business from across the globe have an educational centre that is sensitive to their needs and in touch with industry trends and developments - providing world-class programmes.
In September 2011, FIBA launched the FIBA Academy Manager's programme (www.fiba-academy.org), a basketball specific online learning programme. This unique education initiative is now available to FIBA's 213 member National Federations, basketball Clubs, Universities and the wider basketball community. Each national federation of FIBA will receive one free-of-charge scholarship to the program. For more information please contact info@fiba-academy.org .
The programme sets out the fundamental principles of the FIBA National Federations Manual into an online interactive learning programme; with the aim of bringing best practice management, leadership and administrative techniques to the forefront of the sport. It requires approximately 15-20 hours of study with two assessments. On successful completion, students will receive a certificate from the FIBA Academy and will be qualified FIBA Managers.
The programme has ten (10) modules covering three (3) key themes; Administration, Marketing and Events. There is also a case study which highlights the integration of these themes into the review of a National Federation. Through joining the programme users become a member of an online community enabling effective international knowledge transfer.
The FIBA Academy offers a range of additional educational programmes, including residential executive programmes, through to the highly coveted Global MBA for Sport and Major Events. All programmes help to facilitate networking and sharing of ideas - among thought leaders of the basketball industry - as well as providing opportunities to work through relevant sport and events-driven case studies with industry experts.
The FIBA educational programmes are managed by FIBA's foundation, the International Basketball Foundation, and include the following:
- FIBA Academy Manager's Programme (www.fiba-academy.org)
- Global MBA for Sport and Major Events
- Executive Residential programmes
- Flexible online learning
