Central Board regulations

The regulatory principles developed by FIBA, in its capacity as basketball's governing body, can be summarised as follows:

  • FIBA 3x3 is an open and embracing community, only requisite for competitions is to be endorsed and for players to be registered at
  • Any competition organised by anybody, including pick-ups, can become part of FIBA 3x3
  • 3x3 tours, defined as three linked events, and clusters are the backbone of the FIBA 3x3 competition network
  • The use of the official rules of the game is mandatory
  • Only national federations with at least three FIBA-endorsed events in their territory, organised in the last 12 months prior to the cut-off date by themselves or a third party, are eligible to join national-team based international championships
  • Only players registered on and who have played in at least two FIBA 3x3 endorsed events in the last 12 months are eligible to be selected for the National Team
