Eligibility and National Team selection

Once a player has subscribed to, he/she gets access to the huge range of 3x3 basketball events from the worldwide 3x3 Competition Network. No player licenses are required.

They can easily assemble a team composed of themselves and three other players (also members of, find out which events are taking place nearby and subscribe to the one(s) of their choice; all of this from the same place: 3x3Planet.

Entry level events are of course open to everyone, while certain higher level tournaments see qualification secured through other events.

For participation in National Team competition, players are selected through their National Federations. Participation in National Team competitions is only open to national federations with a minimum of 3 FIBA-endorsed events held in their territory in the last 12 months prior to the established cut-off date. Besides the basic requirement of citizenship (and appropriate age for youth competitions), the only other requirement for players is to have participated in at least two FIBA-endorsed 3x3 events in the last 12 months. National Federations must register the athletes directly on a digital platform called the 3x3 Backend.

As well as standard open tournaments (no age restriction), FIBA recommends the following age-specific categories: U13, U15, U18 (player is 13/15/18 or younger on 1 January of the year of the event) and 35+ (player is 35 or older on 1 January of the year of the event).
