China v USA

Having lost to Serbia in their last Group B outing, China were left in a must-win situation against the USA in order to advance to the Quarter-Finals. China's head coach Tom Maher was asked post-game if his team could make it to the next round. He said, yes, it's possible if they can beat the USA. Is it possible? The reporter insisted. Maher went silent for seconds looking at the reporter's eyes without saying a thing. The Americans are clearly favourites to close out their Group Phase campaign undefeated.        

Serbia v Senegal

The European champions Serbia had a rough start to the competition, but their win over China has put them in a position to reach the Quarter-Finals. They must beat Senegal, who are yet to win a game in the competition. Although the Europeans are heavy favourites, Serbia head coach Marina Maljkovic - who has worked with a number of these Senegalese players in France's women's legue - warned they can't be overlooked. If Senegal can beat Serbia, they will become the first African team to win a game in the last three editions of the Olympics.  

Spain v Canada

This match-up features two teams playing fascinating basketball. At first glance, the Spaniards look stronger, but with this Canadian side anything is possible, especially with the fearless duo of Kia Nurse and Nirra Fields.
