OQT winners are no pushovers

RIO DE JANEIRO (Rio 2016 Olympic Games) - If you thought Croatia, Serbia and France weren't going to be up to the task at the Rio de Janeiro Games after having to win FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQTs) to take part, you were wrong.

All three teams have reached the Quarter-Finals in Rio and provided evidence that a spot on the podium is attainable.

Croatia clinched first place Group B on Monday night with a solid performance against Lithuania to improve to 3-2. They also beat Spain and Brazil.

The winners of the OQT in Belgrade, Serbia only finished fourth in Group A but lost hard-fought games to Australia, France and the USA.

France were third in Group A behind the USA and Australia and like the Serbians threw a real fright into the Americans. France and Serbia each lost to the two-time defending champions by just three points.

Nikola Jokic (SRB) had 25 points against the USA

In the Quarter-Finals, Croatia will take on Serbia so the journey of one OQT winner will come to an end. France, meanwhile, will take on Spain in the latest edition of what has become Europe's most hotly contested rivalry.
