Bogut: 'We believe!'

RIO DE JANEIRO (Rio 2016 Olympic Games) - The winning formula is not a complicated one for Australia.

The Boomers, with five victories in their six Olympic games, have progressed to the Semi-Finals for the first time since 2000, when they lost to Lithuania in the Bronze Medal Game. On Wednesday, Australia thumped the Baltic side, 90-64.

Talent, size, quickness and depth are always important ingredients for success. But Andrew Bogut says something else is making this Boomers team go.

"We believe," Bogut said.

"We just wore those guys out, their ball-handlers, they were on their knees towards the end of the game." - Bogut

"We believe that we can beat teams. You're on teams when you say all that, but that doubt's still there. We believe we can beat teams. We come in here with that mindset. We're a resilient group that plays hard."

Bogut had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in Wednesday's win

Lithuania certainly knew that Australia believed after the opening tip. The Boomers looked and played like they were ready. They started fast with Matthew Dellavedova drilling back-to-back three-pointers.

"It was important," Bogut said of the fast start. "We know they came off the late game a couple of nights ago. A couple of guys have been playing high 30s minutes wise.

"We had a little bit of an advantage with a couple of guys getting some rest and so we wanted to make sure we took advantage of that.

"We came out with the right energy and mindset. I just think over the course of the game, we just wore those guys out, their ball-handlers, they were on their knees towards the end of the game."

Next up in the Semi-Finals will be Croatia or Serbia. They play in Wednesday's last Quarter-Final.
