Australia punch their ticket to FIBA U19 Women's World Championship 2017

SUVA (FIBA U18 Women's Oceania Championship 2016) - Australia cruised past New Zealand to claim the title at the FIBA U18 Women’s Oceania Championship in Suva, Fiji after storming to a 107-52 victory over New Zealand in Saturday's Final. 

The Gem’s went a perfect 5-0 over the course of the tournament and locked down the New Zealand offense in the title game, keeping their scoring threats under control. On offense, they used a huge team effort as captain Chantel Horvat led the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds, Jazmin Shelley added 17 points, Chloe Bibby produced 16 points and 8 rebounds while Ezi Magbegor chipped in with a double-double of 11 points, 10 boards and 5 blocks.

One member of the squad, Aokuso was rewarded for her play during the gold medal match by being named the match Most Valuable Player on the back of a 9 point, 17 rebound performance.

In Friday's Division B medal games, hosts Fiji beat Tahiti 71-37 to win Division B gold and Papua New Guinea sealed Division B bronze with a 70-52 victory over Guam.
