World Association of Basketball Coaches President Patrick Hunt receives Basketball New South Wales Hall of Fame honour

SYDNEY – World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) President and FIBA Technical Commission Chair, Patrick Hunt was recently inducted into the Basketball New South Wales Hall of Fame.

Hunt has a wealth of experience having coached at both the Australian national level and internationally.

He coached the Canberra Cannons in the Australian NBL in 1981 before accepting the Head Coaching position of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Men’s program from 1983 – 1992. He was Head Coach for the Australian U19 men’s team at the FIBA U19 World Championships four times and coached the Australian men’s teams at the World University Games in 1983 and 1985.

Hunt was an assistant coach at the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. Later, he scouted and identified international trends and styles of play for FIBA at the 2006 and 2010 World Championships and 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Hunt has now been the President of the WABC since 2010.

A Life Member of the Australian Basketball Coaches Association since 2002, Hunt was inducted into the Basketball Australia Hall of Fame as a Coach in 2016.

“It is indeed a privilege and honour to be recognised in this way in such esteemed company,” said Hunt.

“I am extremely grateful and humbled.”
