USA with comfortable win over Croatia, one of six undefeated teams

HERAKLION (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Reigning champions United States are one of six teams undefeated after two days of action at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship as they comfortably beat Croatia in a showdown that failed to live up to its top-notch billing.

In addition to the Group A leaders USA, Turkey, Canada, Italy, Serbia and Greece all have two wins in two games as well.

The USA-Croatia contest was one of the most expected games of the tournament but it lost some of its glamour when Croatian star Dragan Bender pulled out of the tournament on Day 1. Five players scored in double figures as United States beat Croatia 103-81 to move to 2-0 in Group A.

Croatia dropped to 1-1.

Egypt have the same record as Croatia after nearly wasting a 21-point second half lead before collecting a 62-59 victory over Iran, who slipped to 0-2 in the Group A.

Supremacy in Group B will be decided on Day 3 when undefeated Canada and Italy face off. Canada manhandled Tunisia93-36, while Italy got a last second layup by Diego Flaccadori for a 69-67 win over Australia.

Australia and Argentina will battle for their first win and third place.

In Group C, the European U18 champions Turkey held off Spain for a 72-65 victory thanks to 13 points and seven rebounds from Ege Arar

Spain fell to 1-1, which is also China's record after the Asian powers used a 9-0 run in the final minute to pull away for a 74-67 win over Argentina, who are winless in Group B.

In Group D, the hosts Greece survived a big scare by Dominican Republic in grabbing a 70-65 win to set up decisive showdown with Serbia. The Serbs collected 36 assists on their 46 baskets as they streaked past Korea113-83.
