Shooting is our only strength and we will live by it - Kazlauskas' mantra

BARCELONA (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Shooting is a strength Lithuania have relied upon at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup with six of their players hitting better than 40 percent of their attempts from three-point range.

And it was this very factor that stood them in good stead on Tuesday as they won their Quarter-Final against Turkey 73-61 to advance to the medal rounds of FIBA's flagship event.

The most glowing tribute for this incredible Lithuanian success rate came from the rival camp.

"Just look at the three-point percentage. That speaks for why we lost the game," said Turkey's Sinan Guler after the Lithuanians made 10 of 19 shots from beyond the arc.

Lithuania coach Jonas Kazlauskas was unabashed in acknowledging.

"Everybody in Lithuania can shoot. Even me," he joked.

Kazlauskas who in the process will get his first taste of the Semi-Final stage at the FIBA Basketball World Cup further explained his tactics for the game.

I told my players three things to achieve in this game. And I think they did that almost to perfection - Kazlauskas

"First was to stop their leader, Emir Preldzic. I think we did a great job in that. He is a great player, but I think we stopped him today.

"Second was to play excellent defense on the pick-and-roll. We had some problems with that, but to a large extent we were fine.

"Thirdly I told the team that we cannot lose rebounds. In that we also did very well. I am very proud of my team," the coach said.

Lithuania outrebounded Turkey 36-32, including a 27-22 edge on the defensive glass.

"Any team that comes to the Semi-Finals will be a tough challenger," Kazlauskas said when askef for his thoughts on a potential Semi-Final against the USA.
