Permanent Committees brainstorm future of sport in Asia

Beirut - The third week of the New Year saw plenty of activity in FIBA's Regional Office in Asia with a series of meetings of the FIBA Asia Permanent Committees brainstorming on the future of sport in Asia.

As many as 10 Permanent Committees met during the week with members from all across the region were present to discuss and draw up a blueprint for the development of the national federations in Asia, all while keeping in mind the ground realities of the situation.

The meetings also served to highlight the fresh opportunities that present themselves in view of the FIBA's revolutionary New Competition System that will be introduced in November.

"FIBA's Regional Office in Asia welcomes all the recommendations from these experts and takes serious note of the concerns they raise," said Hagop Khajirian, FIBA Regional Director - Asia.

"The members of these committees are all very experienced and very capable experts in the issues that they discussed. Therefore when something is a matter of concern for them, it's certainly worth looking at them carefully. Similarly, when these members raise certain recommendations it surely can only help take the progress to the next level."

The Committees also proposed adhering to a time-bound implementation and follow-up for various short-term and long-term recommendations which they put forward.

The Permanent Committees that met were: Competitions Committee, Technical Committee, Youth Committee, Women's Committee, Finance Committee, Legal Committee, Marketing & Media Committee, 3x3 Committee, Medical Committee, Committee for Persons with Disability.
