Nacickaite shoots Lithuania into EuroBasket Women 2015 Quarter-Finals

GYOR (EuroBasket Women 2015) - Some sharp-shooting from Kamile Nacickaite proved to be the difference as Lithuania rode an emotional roller-coaster to collect the last remaining Quarter-Final ticket at EuroBasket Women 2015.

Nacickaite made five three-pointers en-route to 21 points as Lithuania claimed a dramatic 73-72 win over Serbia to advance to Budapest where they will match-up against Belarus.

There was a sense of deja vu as they once again came back from an 18-point deficit to grab a thrilling victory. However, they had to survive a last gasp scare in a nerve-shredding finale to the Second Round as a shot from Serbia rimmed out - one which, had it gone in, would have eliminated them.

"We can't play any other way as it was tough in the end and it always seems to go down to the last minute and the last second," said Nacickaite.

"Every game we play is tough and we are learning.

"At the end of games we have that trust in each other and especially defensively.

"It is an amazing feeling and we're still not finished as there is more to come."

Meanwhile head coach Mantas Sernius added: "The beginning wasn't so perfect, but I am happy we are learning.

"This makes me much better - we know what we can do after beating Russia and Serbia.

"We are also playing with energy and making good decisions - something which helps alongside our big heart."

The result means that Serbia will face Turkey, while the outcome inflicted heartache on Slovak Republic who had beaten the already eliminated Croatia 84-62 earlier in the day, thanks to a terrific 29 points and six assists performance by Barbora Balintova.

Slovak Republic needed Serbia to beat Lithuania in order to move on to the Hungarian capital.

Spain topped the group after taking down Russia 66-57 behind 24 points and five assists from Alba Torrens.

It means the defending champions will play against Montenegro in the Quarter-Finals and Russia will face France.
