Mozambique trio on fire at AfroBasket Women 2015

YAOUNDE (AfroBasket Women 2015) - Mozambique on Friday made sure to offer an unique show by making a staggering 17 three-pointer as they saw off Egypt 99-76 in the 5th-8th place Classification Games.

There is no memory in the history of AfroBasket Women of a team making that many three-pointers in a single game.

Deolinda Ngulela, Valerdina Manhonga and Iliana Ventura did so well that by the end of the contest they combined for 67 Mozambique points.

Ngulela made 24 of her tournament-high 32 points from beyond the arc.

Manhonga was 4 of 8 from long range on her way to 18 points, while Ventura made 5 of 9 from distance and finished with 17 points.

"It was a great game [and] that's my role in the team,”" Ventura said after the game.

Ironically, while Mozambique made threes after threes, Egypt missed all 12 attempts from beyond the arc.

As the Mozambicans cruised to victory thanks to an impressive shooting performance, they did however had an appalling display against Nigeria in Thursday's Quarter-Final.

The AfroBasket Women 2013 runners-up hit on only 5 of their 29 three-point attempts to see their Olympic Game aspirations terminated.

"We desperately needed those three-points against Nigeria, but for some strange reason we missed most of them," said Mozambique's head coach Nasir Sale.

"We'll continue to work and make sure we do things different next time."
