Four teams stay perfect after Day 2 at U18 European Championship Women

CELJE (2015 U18 European Championship Women) - Hosts Slovenia stand alongside Spain, Netherlands and France as the four remaining unbeaten teams after two days of action at the U18 European Championship Women in Celje.

Spain and Netherlands both had to survive overtime to retain their 100 percent records. Spain were pushed all the way by Poland, but Maria Conde came up with a vital late block to add to her double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds as Spain took the 50-46 win.

Russia had a fourth-quarter surge to thank for their 83-71 win over Portugal in the other game in Group B, withstanding Carolina Bernardeco's 28-point outburst to take the win behind 24 points from Olga Frolkina and 22 from Svetlana Gorshkova.

Laura Westerik scored the game-winner with seven seconds remaining as part of an 18-point display as Netherlands beat Croatia 69-67 after overtime to take the top spot in Group D. Czech Republic bounced back from their opening loss to Croatia, choking Estonia's offense on the way to a 76-29 win, Michaela Krejzova top-scoring with 21 points.

In Group C, a strong second half saw Slovenia take down Hungary 71-50 and Annamaria Prezelj impressing again with 25 points. Belgium survived Serbia's fourth-quarter comeback to edge a 50-46 result, led by 13 points and three blocks from centre Serena-Lynn Geldof.

In Group A, France eased past Lithuania with a 70-48 victory, inspired by 16 points from Lisa Berkani and a double-double from Alexia Chartereau. Italy showed their strength with an emphatic 90-55 win over Israel, with Francesca Pan setting the tone by knocking down a series of three-pointers early in the game on her way to 24 points overall.

The last games of the First Round take place on Saturday, with plenty still to play for as teams look to secure qualification and take valuable points with them to the Second Round.
