FIBA holds first workshop on national federations long-term development in Abidjan

ABIDJAN - FIBA National Federations & Sport Manager Florian Pasquet met with members of FIBA Africa's National Federations Commission in the Ivorian capital city of Abidjan for the first workshop on long-term development of national federations.

FIBA Africa Regional Director Alphonse Bile, the President of FIBA Africa's National Federations Commission Jean-Michel Ramaroson and other continental basketball stakeholders took part in the two-day event to discuss the future of basketball on the continent.

Pasquet outlined and emphasised the new changes to be implemented while also stressing FIBA's readiness to assist its members as the sport enters a new era. The participants also discussed the fundamentals for the empowerment of the African national federations, including how to best grow the game at a national level.

With supporting and developing national federations as FIBA's core mission, the workshop focused on how to ensure that national federations have efficient, sustainable and well-organised structures.

Ramaroson praised the initiative.

''This workshop concludes a long process which started with the evaluation and classification of the national federations and the next step is to finalise the manual and the process that will steer our long-term strategic development plan," he said.

The workshop will be held in FIBA's other Regional Offices in the coming months.
