FIBA Asia's Technical Delegates workshop concludes in Doha

DOHA - FIBA's office in Asia conducted a two-day workshop for potential Technical Delegates, including members of FIBA's office in Oceania, to train and recruit delegates for FIBA’s New Competition System that comes into effect in November 2017.

Divided into four groups, the 19 participants worked on a range of activities, topics and exercises. Team building, online tests, multiple game preparations scenarios and other exercises were part of the workshop activities in Doha, Qatar on 27-28 November.

Mr Hagop Khajirian, FIBA Executive Director - Asia, welcomed the candidates and stressed to them the important role of FIBA's office in Asia in preparing the Technical Delegates by assisting and providing them with necessary tools.

"The regional office in Asia and the Technical Delegates will work hand in hand to make sure that everything runs smoothly before and during the games. We trust in the candidates and confident in their abilities to rise to the occasion," he said.

"The Technical Delegates will be the officials in charge of supervising and supporting the delivery of the games, and that's not an easy task," said FIBA Competitions and Sports Director Predrag Bogosavljev.

"Therefore, our aim through the workshop is to help the potential Technical Delegate understand the New Competition System, prepare and train them for the challenges that they might or will face."

FIBA's New Competition System will open a new era for international basketball all over the world - one which features 1,680 top players in 1,200 national team games and millions of fans all around the globe.
