EuroBasket Trophy Tour goes to Tallinn

TALLINN (EuroBasket 2015) - The EuroBasket Trophy Tour wrapped up the first leg of its trip around Europe in Tallinn, Estonia on Wednesday evening.

A busy two days for Frenkie, the EuroBasket 2015 official mascot, and the Nikolai Semashko Trophy came to an end in Saku Suurhall where the trophy was on display at the fourth game of the Alexela Korvpalli Meistriliiga (Estonian Domestic League) finals.

EuroChallenge Last 16 participants Tartu Rock prevailed over BC Kalev/Cramo 77-61 to take a commanding 3-1 series lead in the best-of-seven series.

Having travelled north from Riga on Tuesday night, it was straight back to work Wednesday morning, with radio appearances to be made, before a press conference in the afternoon at the factory of Estonian Basketball Association sponsors Elme Metall. The press conference began with something of a twist, with Frenkie and the trophy arriving by train.

Also on hand at the press conference was Kristjan Kangur, who will be hoping to make his EuroBasket Final Round debut come September.

Throughout the day's activities in Tallinn, there were also various celebrities and basketball dignitaries to cross paths with, including well-known pop singer Getter Jaani; former NBA player Martin Müürsepp; three-time EuroBasket champion Priit Tomson (1967, 1969, 1971); and one-time champion Aleksei Tommiste (1971).

The Trophy Tour continues in Reykjavik, Iceland on 3 June.
