Enthusiasm highlights Americas' National Federations Marketing and Communications Workshop in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO - There was energy and commitment in Santo Domingo this week as 22 national member federations from Americas came together for a Marketing and Communications Workshop in preparation for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers.

The three-day event organized by FIBA's Regional Office in the Americas was the first-ever marketing and communications workshop for America’s National Federations, with strong emphasis on all aspects of marketing and communications, with delegates left highly enthused by the experience.

The workshop was an important illustration of FIBA's continued commitment to prepare all its National Federations all around the world for the New Competition System which comes into effect in November.

Everyone was provided with the latest information relating to the implementation of the Qualifiers, along with expert analysis on how to package the rights, as well as selling and promoting them by using the tools provided by FIBA.

Delegates from the National Federations of Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, USA, Uruguay, Venezuela and Virgin Islands, had made the most of the opportunities available to gather information and network with each other.

“This event has provided an opportunity to meet and network with other professionals that face the same challenges and success, and has given us the context to exchange knowledge and ideas while using innovative exercises,” said USA Basketball’s Chief Media/Communications Officer Mr. Craig Miller.

“Throughout this week we had the opportunity to create relationships between National Federations Members. This workshop created a better understanding of this New Era of Basketball that will be implemented in November 2017,” said CABB’s Communications and Media Director Mr. German Beder.

The event in Santo Domingo was the third of four global workshops, with a further one scheduled to take place in Africa.
