AMSTERDAM (Netherlands) - Thirty combined World Tour appearances, six World Cups, including two pairs of silver medals in 2017 and 2018.

For seven years, Jesper Jobse and Sjoerd van Vilsteren have teamed up to represent Team Amsterdam and the Netherlands with the highest level of play and commitment. Now, they are hanging up their 3x3 basketball shoes. 

"Ever since 2014 I've felt responsible for my own development, the development of Team Amsterdam, and the Dutch national team. I quickly realized the potential this sport has and I started creating new opportunities around it," said Jobse in a recent Instagram post announcing his retirement.

"End of an era. Thank you Netherlands 3x3 Basketball, thank you FIBA 3x3, thank you 3x3 Pro Team Amsterdam, and special thanks to everyone!" said Van Vilsteren on his Instagram page.

Jobse, aka "The Job" began his 3x3 career in a humbling way, finishing 21^st out of 24 teams at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2014. From there, he and his Dutch teammates would go on to find success on both the club and international levels.

Jobse and Van Vilsteren first teamed up at the Lausanne Masters 2014, knocking out the defending champs Ljubljana (then called Brezovica) and finishing 3^rd in a sign to come for their accomplishments. Over the next six years, this dynamic duo posterized an entire generation of 3x3 players. 

They won bronze with the Netherlands at the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup in 2016 with Jesper earning team of the tournament honors. It was the first-ever basketball medal for the country, an accomplishment very dear to them both. They then went on to twice win silver at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup with the Netherlands (2017 and 2018) where Jesper was again included in the team of the tournament. 

While they were never able to win a World Tour event, they played side-by-side for Team Amsterdam, making it to the final of Utsunomiya Masters 2018, losing to powerhouse Liman in the final.

Van Vilsteren, aka 'The Flying Dutchman' and Jobse were always exciting to watch for club and country. They were part of endless highlights that made their way to countless 3x3 Top-5 plays videos.

Off the court, Jobse has traveled around the world as part of the 3x3 Unites foundation he co-founded in an effort to educate youth and develop 3x3 talent. He has documented 3x3’s innate ability to connect communities and make people stronger in "3x3 for Development" the first-ever book written about the sport.

This is not the end. It’s more like a see you later. Jobse has plans to continue his work with 3x3 in a big way.
