Dominicans grab first victory at U19 Worlds since 1983
HERAKLION (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Dominican Republic collected their first victory at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship by fending off Korea, 102-89, to finish third in Group D. Yerri Flores and Andres Feliz both had 19 points for the Dominicans, making their first appearance at the tournament since 1983. Korea dropped to 0-3 despite seven players scoring in double figures.
Turning Point: Korea had been using the three-point shot to stay in the game and Jeon Hyun Woo cut the gap to 93-86 only to see Flores answer with a three-pointer of his own to re-establish a 10-point game with three minutes left.
Stats Don't Lie: Dominican Republic shot 60 percent from the field with 24 assists while out-rebounding Korea 43-30.
Game Hero: To go along with his 19 points, Feliz also collected nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block.
The Bottom Line: After giving Serbia and Greece a real fight, the Dominicans finally grabbed a victory and set up a Round of 16 showdown with Italy. Korea dropped to 0-3 and will face Canada.
