MEDAN (2015 FIBA Asia U16 Women's Championship) - China coach Li Jian Xing's comments at the end of the defending champions' 78-53 win over Korea was a indeed a revelation.

While most of the coaches, especially in the youth level have always commented on the importance of instilling "defensive discipline", the 45-year-old came up with: "It's not that difficult to teach defense to these girls.

"It's on the offense they make too many mistakes.

"I don't say defense is not important. Let's look at like this. On the defense end, there will always be mistakes, but it's just a matter of experience before they get better. Therefore as far as attitude and ability is concerned defense is alright," he said.

"But on the offense, the girls are too eager to prove themselves. And there are far too many mistakes," said the assistant coach of WCBA team Henan Elephants.

Overall, Jian Xing was happy with the way the group of players have progressed.

"Yes we won two games. This one [against Korea] came only after we sorted out a few problems. That's fine.

"But overall I am happy with the way the girls are responding to our calls. We are executing most of what we did in training. We are certainly getting better," he said.
