BUENOS AIRES (Americas) - The South American Basketball Confederation (CONSUBASQUET) held a technical meeting in Buenos Aires on Saturday, June 10 as part of the weekend activities of the FIBA U16 Women's Americas Championship 2017. 

At the meeting, topics in the agenda were addressed such as the 2017-2018 Calendar, the twenty-second edition of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana, II Women’s League 2018, South American Championships hosts for 2017-2018, along with reports on the status of the national team programs on the road to the FIBA Basketball World Cup China 2019 Americas Qualifiers, 3x3 and Marketing & Communications in the Sub-Zone of the Americas.

The meeting was attended by CONSUBASQUET President Mr. Gerasime Bozikis, its Secretary General and FIBA ​​Central Board member Mr. Marcelo Bedoya, the Chairman of the FIBA ​​Competition Commission Mr. Eduardo Bazzi, Argentina Basketball Federation (CABB) President Mr. Federico Susbielles, Colombian Basketball Federation (Fecolcesto) President Mr. Jorge Armando García, Chilean Basketball Federation (FEBACHILE) President Mr. Irán Arcos, The Ecuadorian Basketball Federation (FEB) President Mr. José Arévalo, Peruvian Basketball Federation (FDPB) President Mr. Javier Quezada, Uruguayan Basketball Federation (FUBB) President Mr. Ricardo Vairo, and Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) President Mr. Carmelo Cortez.

"For the South American basketball family it is a great joy to be able to hold this second technical meeting in 2017, with the presence and representation of all our national federations. It has been very positive to listen to the political leaders of basketball in their respective countries. Their participation and opinion has generated learning exchanges, based on teamwork in search of solutions that we are confident will result in the growth of our sport at the continental level.", said Bozikis.

Also present at the meeting were Bolivian Basketball Federation (FBB) Secretary General Mr. Juan Enrique Noriega, DIRECTV South American League Commission Coordinator and Argentina National League President Mr. Fabian Borro, Uruguayan Basketball League President Mr. Daniel Morales, Venezuelan Basketball Federation Events Director and Referee Coordinator Mr. Pedro Raga, Uruguayan Basketball Federation Marketing Manager Mr. Álvaro Butureira, Coordinator Argentina Basketball Confederation Executive Mr. Facundo Petracci and the President of the Basketball Federation of the Province of Córdoba Mr. Mario Ontiveros, together with the Competitions Manager of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in the Americas Mr. Javier Otero, and The Director of National Federations and Sports Development of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in the Americas Mr. Anibal Garcia.

South American Coordinators for 3x3 - Mr. Oswaldo Narváez, Marketing - Álvaro Butureira, and Women's Basketball - Iran Arcos, were also appointed at the meeting.

The technical meeting was also attended by special guest Rubén Rabano, legendary Argentine basketball political figure and founding member of the DIRECTV South American League.
