China looking for new leader to emerge

BEIJING (2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship) - China will be looking for a new team leader to emerge from the pack when they take to the court at the FIBA U19 Women's World Championship.

With no experience on the roster from their last appearance in the competition two years ago in Lithuania and also without Sijing Huang, star of last year's FIBA U18 Asia Women's Championship, the door has been flung open for somebody else to pick up the leadership baton.

And head coach Xuedi Cong, who led the team to the top of the podium in Amman last year, will be hoping a number of her players are able to rise to the challenge as China look to improve on their fifth-place finish during 2013 in Klaipeda.

Jinbo Xing could be one of the contenders, having played more minutes than any other player in Jordan, while Manman Zhang led her country in assists at the 2013 FIBA U16 Asia Women's Championship - including 11 in the Final against Japan.

Meanwhile, there are also a number of players who not only gained glory at U18 level last year, but also competed at the FIBA U17 Women's World Championship in Czech Republic.

Dilana Dilishati is a good finisher around the hoop and will look to make significant contributions in the paint, while the all-action game of Haimei Wang will be welcomed.

The Zhejiang native will also prove a handful as she top-scored in Klatovy and Pilsen with 11.4 points per game, as well as dishing a team-high 2.4 assists.

China have been drawn in Group B and will play Egypt, Spain and USA.

China final roster for 2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship: Dilishati Dilana, Wenxi Ha, Shuai Liu, Fengying Mi, Yu Qi, Lirui Sun, Haimei Wang, Miao Wang, Jinbo Xing, Manman Zhang, Tianyu Zhang, Meiqi Zhu.
