Canada too strong in second half against Italy, win Group C

HERAKLION (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Canada locked up first place in Group C of the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship with a convincing 78-54 win over Italy by pulling away in the second half. Six players scored at least eight points as Canada remained undefeated at 3-0. Italy dropped to 2-1 and finished in second place in the group.

Turning Point: Italy were within 40-35 midway through the third quarter when Canada finished the first half on an 18-6 run and led 58-41 after 30 minutes.

Stats Don't Lie: Canada held Italy to just 25 percent shooting including 4-of-30 from three-point range (13 percent) while getting out in transition with 17 fast break points to just two for Italy.

Game Hero: Justin Jackson returned to the line-up after missing the Tunisia game with a tender ankle and shined with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Bottom Line: Canada continued to roll after their blowout win over Tunisia and head into the knockout stage with strong momentum. Italy were unable to deal with the North American side and suffered their first loss of the tournament.
