Campazzo: "Every game counts in order to qualify for Rio"

MEXICO CITY (2015 FIBA Americas Championship) - Argentina guard Facundo Campazzo is pleased with his team's performances so far at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, with wins over Puerto Rico, Canada and Cuba but stresses that the team should think of every game as a final.

"We had two very good games. The weak point was the start against Puerto Rico. But we could come back and win. And against Canada we achieved a very good win," he said.

"However, we can't get complacent. Although we are very happy to have beaten Canada, we must not get comfortable. We have to play every game as if it were a final."

fiba.com/Americas2015: Do you feel that having defeated Canada changed the scenario?
Campazzo: Canada are a candidate because it has a very long team, with many NBA players. But there are other candidates, such as Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. If we play well we can achieve important things. But if we enter without determination we can lose against anyone. We have to think that every game counts for the qualification to [the 2016] Rio [Olympics]. We have to follow [Luis] Scola, [Andres] Nocioni and Coach [Sergio] Hernandez, because they are the ones who have more experience.

fiba.com/Americas2015: Can you talk about how the team has evolved in the first few games?
Campazzo: Yes, we went from low to a high in the first two games. The positive is that we also found offensive variants. Against Puerto Rico, [Patrico] Garino and Luis Scola stood out and against Canada Luis and "Lapro" [Nicolas Laprovittola] shone. We're being smart and it gives us greater potential.

fiba.com/Americas2015: How do you feel you've performed personally?
Campazzo: I was coming off 10 days without being in the court, with a foot problem. It took me a while to get into a rhythm, but once I'm in, with the desire to play and the maelstrom of the game, I do not feel the pain.

fiba.com/Americas2015: Do you feel comfortable with what you gave in the games so far?
Campazzo: I had good moments and others not so good. Sometimes I'm too hasten or I'm too quick. I cannot go from one extreme to another. I must find a balance, because that is what the team needs from me.

fiba.com/Americas2015: Do you feel this team possesses the identity that has characterised Argentina since 2001?
Campazzo: Our DNA was always the defense and the extra pass. At times we did well and sometimes not. Our fast break is also a key weapon. Every game is different and we must surprise with talent and intelligence.
