Bosnia and Herzegovina announce 12-man team

SARAJEVO (EuroBasket 2015) - Bosnia and Herzegovina head coach Dusko Ivanovic announced on Tuesday his final roster for EuroBasket 2015, which includes seven returnees from the 2013 edition.

Three of those players are gearing up for their third consecutive EuroBasket appearance in point guard Nemanja Gordic, power forward Edin Bavcic and center Elmedin Kikanovic, who is also the national team captain this year.

The others are shooting guard Marko Sutalo who, at 32, is also the most senior member of the squad, fellow guard Muhamed Pasalic, small forward Dalibor Persic and big man Andrija Stipanovic.

This core is flanked by five players of varying ages and experience that will either play in their maiden EuroBasket tournament or will return to the big European stage.

Adin Vrabac has finally made the final cut for a major tournament after debuting with the senior national team as early as in the qualifying campaign for EuroBasket 2013 and also playing a role in last summer's 2nd Qualification Round.

The 21-year-old power forward is the second-youngest player on the Bosnia and Herzegovina EuroBasket 2015 roster after Nedim Buza, who recently turned 20.

Buza, an all-round winger who is one of the most exciting prospects in Europe, joined the senior national team training camp after finishing as the third-top tournament scorer in July's U20 European Championship.

Meanwhile 29-year-old small forward Milan Milosevic, who had played at EuroBasket 2011 but dropped out of the national team mix in the years that followed, returned last summer with the start of coach Ivanovic's tenure and has also been included in the final roster.

Miroslav Todic, the 30-year-old power forward who received his first call-up to the national team after Mirza Teletovic announced in June that he would be unavailable this summer, as well as naturalised guard Gregory Alex Renfroe, will step out at EuroBasket for the first time in their career.

"Now that we have finished preparations, I feel very satisfied with what we've done," commented coach Ivanovic.

"While we lost by big margins in some of our initial friendlies, we learned something from them.

"We improved a little after each one of these 12 warm-up games we played.

"Our main quality is our team play and fighting spirit.

"Now begins the event we have prepared for and the only thing in our minds is the opening game on Saturday against Poland."

The national team captain confirmed that, despite the absence of Teletovic and fellow stars Nihad Djedovic and Jusuf Nurkic, the aim of Bosnia and Herzegovina remains to advance from Group A into the Round of 16.

"The atmosphere in the team is very good," said Kikanovic.

"All the guys are ready to go, feel very motivated and everybody is healthy.

"In the final preparation games, especially in the Zagreb tournament, we showed that we have improved a lot and we are in good form.

"Our primary goal at the Eurobasket is to secure a top-four finish in the group in Montpellier and play in the knock-out stage."

Bosnia and Herzegovina final roster for EuroBasket 2015: Edin Bavcic, Nedim Buza, Nemanja Gordic, Elmedin Kikanovic, Milan Milosevic, Muhamed Pasalic, Dalibor Persic, Alex (Gregory) Renfroe, Andrija Stipanovic, Marko Sutalo, Miroslav Todic, Adin Vrabac.
