Belarus launch EuroBasket Women preparations

MINSK (EuroBasket Women 2015) - Belarus have commenced preparations for EuroBasket Women 2015 with a camp in Minsk involving primarily home-based players who compete in the Belarusian Championship.

Headlining the 17-strong list of players is Anastasiya Verameyenka who missed last year's FIBA Women's World Championship in Turkey due to maternity leave and the sight of her back in the national team locker room will come as a significant boost.

The national side sorely missed Verameyenka as they came up short of the Quarter-Finals following a late collapse against China.

Anatoli Buyalski, who returned to the helm earlier this year for a third spell as national team coach, also welcomed back the experienced Marina Kress, who like her frontcourt partner Verameyenka missed out on the action in Istanbul after also starting a family.

There is also huge veteran know-how with Tatyana Troina, Katsiaryna Snytsina, while rising stars Maryia Papova and Ksenija Voishal also bring a nice blend into the mix.

The likes of kingpin Yelena Leuchanka and Tatsiana Likhtarovich are still competing with their club teams outside of Belarus and will link up with the camp at a later date.

Additionally, the National Federation has announced that Lindsey Harding will join the team in the middle of May.

Belarus will got up against Greece, Italy, Poland and Turkey in Group B.
