Who are the four new names in the FIBA Europe Cup record books?

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) - Among the many memorable moments throughout the 206-game FIBA Europe Cup season, only a few were more eye-catching than the outstanding individual displays of the elite players.

Chase Fieler, John Roberson, Spencer Butterfield and Kervin Bristol inscribed their names into the competition's history books with record-breaking performances in efficiency, points, three-pointers and blocked shots, respectively.

After the conclusion of the second edition of the FIBA Europe Cup, we take a closer look at the best individual performances of the season across the different statistical categories.

EFFICIENCY

Chase Fieler's all-around skills were on display in the FIBA Europe Cup
Donar Groningen had a solid FIBA Europe Cup campaign and so did the team's 24-year-old American forward Chase Fieler, who set a new competition all-time single-game record in efficiency in one of the last games of the Regular Season against Limburg United.

Having contributed 24 points to a convincing 98-70 victory, the player also added 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals and 4 blocks for a total efficiency ranking of 46 in a memorable performance that will be difficult to recreate for anyone else.

POINTS

John Roberson had a number of explosive games this season

Plenty of players came close, but it wasn't until the Play-Offs that the long-standing FIBA Europe Cup scoring record was finally broken.

John Roberson of Elan Chalon and Spencer Butterfield of Nanterre 92 collected 39 points each in back-to-back weeks, surpassing SL Benfica big man Ivica Radic at the top of the list.

Roberson was the first of the players to set the new mark in the first leg of the Quarter-Finals against Cibona Zagreb, but Butterfield followed suit and equaled the achievement already the following week in the second leg of the tie against Muratbey Usak Sportif.

The previous high of 38 points by Ivica Radic had survived in the record books for more than 15 months after being set at the start of the 2015-2016 season.

REBOUNDS

Dave Dudzinski set a season-high for rebounds

While Steaua CSM big man Dave Dudzinski's season-best 17 rebounds is an impressive feat, it wasn't enough to cause any statistical tectonic shifts, with the competition's all-time high of 19 boards remaining in place.

The current record is jointly-held by Maurice Sutton and Ross Bekkering, who represented Slask Wroclaw and Donar Groningen last year, respectively.

ASSISTS

No one could match Dru Joyce in the assists department
Kataja Basket playmaker Teemu Rannikko, who made an appearance in the FIBA Europe Cup this season as well, remains the record-holder for most assists in a single game after his 18-dime performance went unmatched for the second straight season.

The closest anyone managed to get was Dru Joyce of Tsmoki, who posted 17 assists in a Second Round fixture against Kormend, which the Belarusian side won 91-87 at the Falcon Club in Minsk.

STEALS

Torey Thomas shared the season-high in steals with eight other players

Kim Adams and Damier Pitts retained their positions at the top of the steals leaderboard, with their co-owned record of nine takeaways in single game remaining intact, despite a large number of challengers.

However, no one came close, with nine different players sharing the season-best performance of six steals: Osiris Eldridge, Hristo Zahariev, Yorman Bartolo, D'Angelo Harrison, D.J. Cooper, Jabarie Hinds, Andrew Lawrence, Karam Mashour and Torey Thomas.

BLOCKS

Kervin Bristol swatted away seven shots in a single game

Kervin Bristol played just two games in the FIBA Europe Cup after transferring from the Basketball Champions League with Kataja Basket, but it was enough for the 28-year-old Haitian-born big man to enter his name into the record books.

The player swatted away a competition best seven blocks in the return leg of the Round of 16 tie against Telekom Baskets, one-upping the six-block mark set by Dejan Kravic (SPM Shoeters Den Bosch) and Janar Talts (Tartu) last season.

Moustapha Fall of Elan Chalon came close to entering the record-breaking territory, blocking six shots against Telenet Oostende in the second Semi-Finals clash at home in Chalon-sur-Saone.

THREE-POINTERS

Spencer Butterfield was unstoppable on the perimeter
Perhaps reflecting the overall evolution of the game into a more perimeter-oriented one, the record for most three-pointers made in a single game changed hands the most times this season, settling down with Spencer Butterfield of Nanterre.

The 24-year-old marksman made 11-of-13 three-point attempts against Muratbey Usak Sportif in the Quarter-Finals en route to equaling the FIBA Europe Cup scoring record of 39 points, breaking the 10 three-pointer mark set by John Roberson of Elan Chalon just a week earlier.

Two weeks before that, Joseph King knocked down a then competition all-time best nine three-pointers for Kataja Basket in the Round of 16 against Telekom Baskets.

Heading into the season, the record stood at eight three-pointers made and was shared by three players: Devonte Newbill, Brady Heslip and Thaddus McFadden. The co-author ranks grew larger, as Toni Bizaca of Sodertalje Kings and Andrew Barham of Mures matched the mark in the Regular Season.
