Video: Carlos Andrade's buzzer-beater wins it for SL Benfica

LISBON (FIBA Europe Cup) – SL Benfica’s veteran Carlos Andrade snatched a 77-74 overtime victory for the Portuguese side with a buzzer-beating three-pointer against Alba Fehervar.

"I was a little bit of a hero… I think I can say this now. It was a makeshift basket, but we believed and worked hard to win. We started badly, with many errors, making this a difficult game for ourselves,” the 38-year-old Andrade smiled after the game.

The Lisbon side fell behind by 11 points in the opening quarter and trailed against the Hungarian side for most of the game. However, a run late in the fourth period saw SL Benfica force overtime.

During the extra period, the hosts rushed in front, but careless turnovers had allowed Alba Fehervar to knot things up with only seconds to spare, but Andrade’s incredible game-winner prevented the game from going to a second overtime.

"We definitely have more quality than we demonstrated today. However, it was more with the heart than with tactics that we eventually got the win," the game hero said.
