VENEZIA (EuroLeague Women/EuroCup Women) – Beretta Famila Schio are celebrating their tenth Cup success after MVP Jolene Anderson propelled them to another piece of silverware with a win against title rivals Gesam Gas Lucca.

ANDERSON LEADS SCHIO TO GLORY

After winning their derby in the Semi-Finals against Reyer Venezia, Anderson ensured Schio finished the job in the Final against current league leaders Lucca. The wing exploded with 33 points to propel her team to an 80-66 success.

The Cup victory completes a great first week for recently installed play-caller Mauro Procaccini who successfully secured the club a place in the EuroLeague Women Quarter-Finals.

MCCOUGHTRY ERUPTS AGAINST UMMC

Dynamo Kursk stated their intent to challenge the supremacy of UMMC Ekaterinburg this season after Angel McCoughtry erupted for a spectacular 37 points in a 99-86 home win against the champions.

The visitors were missing Emma Meesseman and Nika Baric as they find Kursk now level with them on 18-1.

An eye-catching contribution of 20 points from Valeriane Ayayi underpinned a hard-fought victory for ESBVA-LM at Tango Bourges as the visitors scored the last six points of the game to ride their way to a 64-61 win. The result lifts Frederic Dusart and his side into second place, while the wheels are threatening to come off for Bourges as they are languishing in fifth spot.

Flammes Carolo Basket are still at the summit after brushing aside Tarbes 92-67 as Valeriya Berezhynska added 18 points, while Basket Landes and BLMA are keeping up the pressure on the leaders although the former endured a 58-55 setback against Cavigal Nice Basket. A double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds from Elodie Godie carried BLMA to a 72-62 win against Mondeville.

TOP FIVE TRIUMPH IN TURKEY

The top sides in the KBSL all picked up wins at the weekend, including leaders Yakin Dogu Universitesi who had Bahar Caglar to thank for a 69-54 success against Girne Universitesi after she recorded 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Bellona Agu picked up an impressive 75-61 victory against fellow EuroCup Women Quarter-Finalists Hatay BB as Jelena Dubljevic and Chelsea Gray both scored 21 points, with the latter completing a double-double after handing out 11 assists.

After consecutive defeats, powerhouse duo Fenerbahce and Galatasaray returned to winning ways. Jantel Lavender racked up 21 points and 10 rebounds to inspire Fenerbahce to a 76-69 victory at Adana Aski, while Moriah Jefferson was on fire with 20 points and 10 assists in a 78-65 derby win at Istanbul Universitesi.

Belarus national team guard Lindsey Harding fired 23 points for Besiktas to guide them past Osmaniye 75-67, but there was another disappointment for Mersin who are now in a lowly tenth place after they were beaten on their home floor 75-66 by Botas.

At the other end of the table, Samsun continued their rescue mission to save themselves from relegation with a precious 62-59 win against fellow strugglers MBK Dogus Hastanesi.

ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE

Athlete Celje finished on top at the Slovenian Cup Final Four after beating Triglav 61-53 thanks to tournament MVP Shante Evans who scored 22 points and hauled down 8 rebounds.

A Slovenian national team player in the shape of Eva Lisec amassed a fine 19 points and 13 rebounds for Hungarian surprise package Atomeromu whose excellent campaign continued with a 67-62 win at EuroLeague Women side CMB Cargo Uni Gyor. The result keeps Atomeromu level at the top of the standings with Uniqa Sopron.

Spanish league leaders Perfumerias Avenida had to rely on 22 points and 10 rebounds from Erika Souza to dig out a precious 88-83 win at Star Center-Uni Ferrol. Second-placed Spar Citylift Girona eased past CREF Hola 91-78 as Haley Peters sunk 20 points.

CCC Polkowice are breathing a sigh of relief after sneaking past Basket Gdynia 71-70 in the Polish League, while Wisla Can-Pack strode past Sosnowiec 97-66 as Sandra Ygueravide led five scorers in double figures with 17 points.
