Maria Vadeeva shines; Prague leave it late

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - Dynamo Kursk continued where they left off in 2016 in EuroLeague Women action after making it seven wins from seven in the competition.

Teenage sensation Maria Vadeeva went 11-of-11 from the field for her 22 points and also added 6 rebounds and 5 assists in a convincing 90-55 win against Uni Gyor.

Angel McCoughtry added 22 points as Kursk held their opponents to 18 points in the second half whilst powering clear to another victory in Group A.

In contrast, ZVVZ USK Praha trailed for the majority of their encounter with Famila Schio before pulling off a 74-73 home triumph behind 23 points from Sonja Petrovic.

Sonja Petrovic led the way for Prague with 23 points

The visitors led by 7 points with less than 4 minutes remaining, but a three from Marta Xargay was followed by Alena Hanusova’s game-winner with 5 seconds left on the clock to seal the victory.

“We had to work very hard for each point, but we did not give up and fought until the end," said Hanusova.

"It paid off and we got good shots at the end and successfully finished the game."

Fenerbahce improved to a 6-1 record after a strong final quarter helped cement a 73-89 road win over Mersin - who still await their maiden win.

Jantel Lavender and Anastasiya Verameyenka impressed inside and combined for 40 points, while Birsel Vardarli handed out 11 assists to help give Fenerbahce the win in the battle of the sides from Turkey.
