Valosun KP Brno out to make regular season

BRNO (EuroCup Women 2017) – Valosun KP Brno are leaning on the international experience of Marina Solopova and Adina Stoiedin to help them seal safe passage to the EuroCup Women 2016-17 regular season.

The Czech side completed a return to European club competition last year after a hiatus of more than two decades, as they embarked on a EuroCup Women campaign which harvested a pair of victories with a win double against the Orange Blizzards of Amsterdam.

This time around, Valosun KP Brno must navigate the additional hurdle of the EuroCup Women Qualifiers if they want to enjoy another regular season adventure and have turned to Solopova and Stoiedin for inspiration.

Very much an 'X-factor' player who can put points on the board in a hurry, Lithuanian national team wing Solopova has plenty of experience from EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women, having played with the likes of Lemminkainen, Good Angels Kosice, Hainaut Basket, Fortuna and VICI Aistes. The 26-year-old also has a pair of FIBA EuroBasket Women Final Round appearances to call upon.

Stoiedin also appeared at FIBA EuroBasket Women 2015 in her homeland, with the Romanian forward having played for Spirou Monceau Charleroi last season in Belgium – her first campaign outside of Romania.

"Marina can be used in different positions, is aggressive, tough and will be a welcome re-enforcement," stated head coach, Marian Svoboda.

"We were impressed with the performances of Adina last season in Belgium and from our games in the Central Women’s League, we also know the level of Romanian players is moving up.

"It is also important that we are hungry for these big matches in EuroCup Women," added the play-caller.
