Roundup: Slovak Cup Joy for Piestanske Cajky

PIESTANY (EuroLeague Women/EuroCup Women) - Piestanske Cajky are celebrating a famous Slovak Cup success after upsetting favorites and EuroCup Women Round of 16 side Good Angels Kosice to take the silverware.

SHOCK CUP SUCCESS FOR THE SEAGULLS
Piestanske Cajky entered this season's EuroCup Women and fell at the first hurdle during the Qualifiers. But, they have made amends by serving up a night to remember with a 59-53 win against Kosice.

Monique Oliver helped to take down Kosice after scoring 19 points against the powerhouse, with Piestanske Cajky aso benefitting from an 18-7 burst in the last period.

LAVENDER LEADS FENERBAHCE IN TIGHT SQUEEZE
Turkish League leaders Fenerbahce sealed a narrow 64-60 win against Botas as Jantel Lavender helped her team prevail with a near double-double of 16 points and nine rebounds.

Yakin Dogu Universitesi maintained their challenge with an 89-76 success at Adana Aski. Kayla McBride returned from her long-term injury to plunder 25 points, while Courtney Vandersloot fired 27 points and dished up seven assists.

Galatasaray are also still in contention after defeating Tosyali Osmaniye by 96-63 with Moriah Jefferson netting 24 points and Deniz Colakoglu with an all-action and highly impressive 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Bellona Agu had Ann Wauters, Tanisha Wright and Jelena Dubljevic all pass the 20-point mark as they beat Istanbul Universitesi 77-66 in Kayseri. Mersin eased the pressure on their under-par campaign as they won 67-64 against MBK Dogus Hastanesi. Nilay Kartaltepe handed out a stellar 12 assists.

Hatay inked a morale-boosting 79-61 win at home to Girne Universitesi as Courtney Paris continued her great form with 19 points and 14 rebounds, but Samsun remain deep in trouble after losing 78-73 at Besiktas.

BASKET LANDES DELIVER BLOW TO BLMA
There was a terrific 52-47 triumph for Basket Landes as they took down leaders BLMA with Canadian forward Miranda Ayim adding 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Flammes Carolo Basket are now in pole position after collecting a comfortable 77-62 win at Lyon. Amel Bouderra continued her fantastic season with a dazzling 14 points and 14 assists

ESBVA-LM bounced back from their lockout in EuroLeague Women at Bourges last week by prevailing 76-68 against Tarbes as Alina Iagupova poured in 21 points, while Bourges saw off UFAB49 Angers by 72-59.

Cavigal Nice Basket were beaten on their own floor 77-75 by Hainaut Basket, with Nantes Reze happy to fend off Mondeville 64-55.

FAVOURITES ADVANCE TO ITALIAN CUP SEMI-FINALS
The leading clubs in the Italian Cup all safely negotiated their respective Quarter-Final ties. Beretta Famila Schio sunk Saces Dike Napoli 86-54 and that sets up a clash against Umana Reyer Venezia, who waltzed past Broni 78-43 as Ashley Walker corralled 22 points.

Passalacqua Ragusa will be gunning for the Final after they edged Fila San Martino 73-68 thanks to a massive 20 rebounds from new signing Erlana Larkins. They will play against leaders Gesam Gas Lucca in the last four.

SOPRON SEE OFF CLOSEST RIVALS
It's been a good week for Uniqa Sopron as they followed up a nice home win in EuroLeague Women with a crushing 79-53 display against Hungarian league title rivals Atomeromu. Once again Yvonne Turner was the leader with a 24-point tally.

Egle Siksniute and Jessica Kuster combined for 36 points to propel PEAC-Pecs past BEAC Ujbuda 76-61, with Maja Skoric dropping 19 points for VBW CEKK Cegled as they comfortably dispatched ZTE 90-63.

CMB Cargo Uni Gyor maintained their title challenge as both Cyesha Goree and Zsofia Simon rattled off 17 points to deny visiting PINNK-Pesci 424 with a 73-64 victory.

ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE
All the big-hitters fired in Russia as UMMC Ekaterinburg swept aside Dynamo Moscow 100-47 as Brittney Griner amassed 26 points. The same tally was recorded by Tiffany Mitchell for Nadezhda who triumphed 80-61 against MBA Moscow.

Maria Vadeeva haunted her former side Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje with 19 points in a one-sided 109-49 road win for Dynamo Kursk.

Wisla Can-Pack returned to winning ways domestically with an 88-67 win at Basket Gdynia as Spanish guard Sandra Ygueravide registered her highest return of the season with 26 points. CCC Polkowice beat Gorzow 57-46 as Magdalena Leciejewska and Jamierra Faulkner shared 28 points.

Perfumerias Avenida had to work hard to cement an 80-73 Liga Femenina win against Quesos El Pastor Zamarat, while Haley Peters scored 17 points for second-placed Spar Citylift Girona as they won 77-63 at Star-Center Uni Ferrol.

Finally, Manchester Mystics made history in front of a 5,000-strong crowd at the first-ever Women's British Basketball League Cup Final with a 71-60 win against Nottingham Wildcats. Great Britain center Dominique Allen took the MVP honors with 21 points and 11 boards.
