Piestanske Cajky look for Handy and Brown to lead their charge

PIESTANY (EuroCup Women 2017) – Piestanske Cajky are hoping the addition of Great Britain forward Chantelle Handy and all-action guard Tiffany Brown will catapult them towards the EuroCup Women 2017 Regular Season.

The Slovak Republic outfit embarked on their maiden campaign in the competition last year and made people sit up and take notice after some impressive results after winning twice on the road in Turkey against Adana Aski and Besiktas JK respectively.

This time around they must firstly navigate a difficult looking EuroCup Women Qualifier against PEAC Pecs of Hungary if they want to test themselves again by booking a Regular Season schedule.

Central to their prospects of success will be 2012 Olympian Handy, who has experience of playing against PEAC Pecs, since she previously played for city rivals PINKK Pesci 424. The 29-year-old has been one of her country’s leading lights in their ongoing pursuit of securing a spot at EuroBasket Women 2017 and will suit up for her sixth EuroCup Women team, having previously represented Aris, Mersin Buyuksehir, Nantes Reze and Orduspor in addition to PINKK Pesci 424.

Brown arrives via a productive season with Sallen in Sweden, where she averaged over 15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game in Damligan. That came following spells with Basket Gdynia and Romanian clubs CSU Alba Iulia, Danzio Timisoara and ICIM Arad where she started her pro-career with a first taste of competing in EuroCup Women.

The Seagulls have also got a strong spine of home-grown players to call upon, including Slovak Republic national team players such as Lucia Krc-Turbova, Angelika Slamova, Sabina Oroszova and Terezia Palenikova.
