EuroCup Women Semi-Finals first leg: Social media spotlight and reaction

MUNICH (EuroCup Women) We catch up with those involved in the first leg of the Semi-Finals and take a look at how the action went down on social media.

They may have lost 87-81 to Yakin Dogu Universitesi, but it was Galatasaray who grabbed the headlines and specifically the dynamic Moriah Jefferson.

The American guard was sensational as she brought her team back from the cliff edge when they trailed by 21 points against their opponents by producing some breathtaking plays and bagging a special 31 points and nine assists.

"We are unhappy about the result," mused the guard after dazzling the incredible home support with her play.

"We'll fix our mistakes and we'll focus on this next game now," she added.

It was no wonder she had the longest queue next to her after the game as fans waited to have their photos taken with their favorite.

Meanwhile Yakin Dogu Universitesi head coach Zafer Kalaycioglu is intent on now making the most of his team's advantage from the initial meeting.

He said: "First of all, I want to congratulate my team for this win.

"We really want to be a part of the EuroCup Women Final and we will be at our home court for the second game and we'll be focused."

Another winning coach in Ayhan Avci of Bellona Agu paid tribute to the Hatay supporters as his team also picked up a six-point success - with Bellona Agu expecting a big crowd at their home venue on Friday as well.

The two-time Finalists headed back to Kayseri with a 71-65 victory and taking into account their pedestrian-paced start and the intense and partisan atmosphere - the play-caller was pleased to be on top, but is expecting another fierce battle.

He declared: "It was a very hard game for us as the Hatay club have amazing fans.

"We didn't play the way I was expecting, but we played very well at the end of the last quarter.

"This is the first half of the Semi-Finals tie completed now and while we will have the next game on Friday at our home court, I think this second game will be similar for both teams," concluded Avci.
