All change at TSV 1880 Wasserburg

WASSERBURG (EuroCup Women 2017) – There will be a largely new look to TSV 1880 Wasserburg during the forthcoming EuroCup Women season after the German champions opted to refresh more than half of their roster.

Seven departures have been confirmed this summer, including the likes of Rio Olympian Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe, Svenja Brunckhorst, Tiina Sten and Katerina Hindrakova.

The replacements are led by German national team forward, Katharina Fikiel who returns to Bavaria having previously played for Wasserburg in EuroCup Women four years ago. She has since stepped out with both Energa Torun and Good Angels Kosice in EuroLeague Women.

Fikiel will be joined by other newcomers in the shape of Swedish guard Nathalie Fontaine and powerhouse forward Wumi Agunbiade who racked up an impressive 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last year in the Italian league with Umbertide.

Importantly there will be some continuity, with Wasserburg thrilled to be able to retain the services of star player Shaylani Peddy, along with Malta national team captain Rebecca Thoresen and Soana Lucet.

The club will play their fifth successive EuroCup Women season and will face Udominate Basket, Lulea Basket and a team from the Qualifiers in Group H of Conference 2.
