TSV 1880 Wasserburg warming up nicely after Trutnov Cup success

TRUTNOV (EuroCup Women 2017) – TSV 1880 Wasserburg look like they will start the season full of confidence after they swept their way to the 2016 Trutnov Cup.

The German champions took the victory they needed in this important pre-season tournament against Hradec Kralove as they racked up a 69-56 success behind a team-high 13 points from Soana Lucet.

Importantly there were positive contributions from newcomers Nathalie Fontaine and Alexandra Tarasava too, as they look to cement starting spots for themselves ahead of the commencement of EuroCup Women 2017 next month.

A Rio Olympian, Belarusian guard Tarasava will be expected to be particularly effective as she knows the German DBBL well having played with SV Halle Lions last season.

While they scooped the silverware in Trutnov with their final day victory, it was perhaps their 74-56 destruction of fellow EuroCup Women participants PINKK Pesci 424 which was most eye-catching.

The German juggernauts were too strong and as usual it was their standout performer Sheylani Peddy who was a difference maker with 15 points.

TSV 1880 Wasserburg are one of a trio of German teams in the competition this year, with Eisvogel USC Freiburg and RUTRONIK Stars Keltern both taking part in the EuroCup Women 2017 Qualifiers.
