Roundup: TSV 1880 Wasserburg land German Cup silverware
WASSERBURG (EuroCup Women/ EuroLeague Women) – There was joy for TSV 1880 Wasserburg over the weekend as Belarusian playmaker Aliaksandra Tarasava inspired her team to another German Cup title.
TARASAVA LEADS WASSERBURG TO SILVERWARE
The guard netted 18 points as TSV 1880 Wasserburg beat their fellow EuroCup Women competitors and arch rivals Rutronik Stars Keltern in convincing fashion by 67-45. She was also handed the MVP award.
Rebecca Tobin also weighed in with a near double-double of 12 points and 9 rebounds as Wasserburg eased away ahead of the interval with a 21-9 burst and never looked back.
KIZER GUIDES OLYMPIACOS TO CUP TRIUMPH
There was also Greek Cup success for Olympiacos as they followed up their unbeaten Regular Season by strolling past Panionios 103-68 to take their first title of the campaign.
Their opponents had no answer to the power of center Lynetta Kizer who scored 16 points, while veteran wing Styliani Kaltsidou added 15 points as the winning side took the game away from Panionios with a massive second quarter.
SCHIO FINISH TOP OF THE TABLE IN ITALY
There was an unexpected Regular Season first place for Italian champions Beretta Famila Schio after leaders Gesam Gas Lucca blew their big chance to finish in pole position with a 70-65 loss at Fila San Martino. That meant they ended up with the same 18-4 record as Schio, who had the head-to-head.
It was made even sweeter for the EuroLeague Women side as they finished with a 70-64 victory in the derby against Reyer Venezia as Jolene Anderson scored a stellar 26 points.
WISLA BREATHE SIGH OF RELIEF
Polish champions Wisla Can-Pack were relieved to come away from seventh-ranked AZS-UMCS Lublin with a hard-fought 64-58 win to level their BLK Quarter-Final series 2-2. A 19-point haul from Belgian guard, Hind Ben Abdelakder ensured they weren’t eliminated, although Wisla still have work to do in the decider.
It was a similar story for CCC Polkowice, who lost their first two games against Gorzow but won 63-52 to level the series after Croatian forward Marija Rezan harvested a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.
ERKIC HANDS ATOMEROMU REGULAR SEASON TITLE
Slovenia national team leader Maja Erkic drained a brilliant 29 points for Atomeromu as they beat Elte-BEAC 78-52 to secure themselves the Regular Season title in Hungary.
It was a rare sight as the usually dominant Uniqa Sopron were pushed down into second place, signing off with a 69-54 victory against PEAC-Pecs as Yvonne Turner registered 17 points.
CMB Cargo Uni Gyor took third place in the standings after beating Vasas Akademia 76-64, with Cyesha Goree accumulating a powerful 17 points and 14 rebounds.
ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE
Lekdetec.nl lifted the Cup title in Netherlands after they strode past Grasshoppers 85-67, with Yordi Kathmann scoring 20 points and Jill Bettonvil contributing 17 points and 6 boards.

The Croatian Cup is back in the hands of Medvescak after they won a thrilling affair 73-71 against Tresnjevka. It was national team shooting guard Iva Borovic who proved to be the difference-maker as she finished with 19 points.
Buducnost won their Cup Final in style with a 78-36 success against Lovcen to underline their status as the powerhouse team in Montenegro. They were led by 15 points and 7 assists from Irena Matovic.
Crvena Zvezda are the Cup winners in Serbia again after they outlasted main rivals Radivoj Korac 84-66, to successfully defend the silverware they won last year.
Finally, Brazilian veteran center Erika de Souza fired 20 points and hauled down 15 boards for Liga Femenina Regular Season winners, Perfumerias Avenida as they won 67-50 at Bembibre.
