WABC and FIBA launch Coaches Educational Platform

MIES - The World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC), in collaboration with FIBA, have unveiled a new Coaches Educational Platform, available free of charge to basketball coaches of all levels around the world.

The WABC Coaches Platform replaces the interface formerly known as FIBA Coaching Library and centralises all coaches' resources and information. It includes the full content - Mini Basketball, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 - that makes up the WABC Coaches Manual, as well provide new functionalities such as a Video Library and a map registering all upcoming coaches' courses and clinics.

As with the WABC Coaches Manual, the WABC Coaches Platform will be translated into different languages - including French, Spanish and Chinese, with Russian and Portuguese also targeted - over the course of 2017-2018.

WABC President Patrick Hunt said: "The WABC Coaches Platform provides continuity from the WABC Coaches Manual released in November 2016. It offers a central point of information for all coaches around the world and serves their knowledge development. FIBA and the WABC remain committed to supporting the education and development of coaches. To that end, the new platform is another step towards a high-standard service for basketball coaches worldwide."

FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member Patrick Baumann said: "The World Association of Basketball Coaches and FIBA have worked together to create a platform that is essential in the development and growth of basketball coaches across the world. Having highly-skilled coaches is vital in order for players and teams alike to reach their full potential. I wish to thank WABC President Patrick Hunt for seeing this project through and for his commitment and contribution to developing our wonderful global game."
