WUHAN (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Iran and the Philippines squared off for FIBA Asia Championship glory one year ago in Manila, and the Iranians rolled to a decisive victory.

Now the sides are going to trade blows in a Semi-Final showdown at the 5th FIBA Asia Cup in Wuhan, China on Friday.

Iran punched their ticket to the last four with a 75-60 triumph over Jordan on Thursday, and Gilas joined them immediately after with a 70-66 win against India.

The event is part of both teams' preparations for the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain,

The Iranians, who will play in Group A of the World Cup against France, Serbia, Brazil, Egypt and hosts Spain, exerted their authority inside against Jordan and claimed a convincing win.

Memi Becirovic's side went on a 12-0 run to claim a 21-12 advantage by the end of the first quarter.

The Jordanians reduced the arrears to just seven in the second quarter, but Iran then stamped their authority on the contest and raced into a 15-point lead and remained in control the rest of the way.

Iran scored 48 of their points in the paint compared to just 20 for Jordan.

Mohammad Jamshidi was the star of the show for Iran, pouring in 26 points on eight of 13 shooting inside the arc.

The 22-year-old small forward also sank eight of his 10 attempts at the free-throw line.

Hamed Hadadi was seven of 12 inside the arc and finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.

The Philippines, who will play in World Cup Group B against Argentina, Croatia, Senegal, Greece and Puerto Rico, took their foot off the pedal in the last minutes of their Quarter-Final against India but just about prevailed.

India made headlines earlier in the tournament with an upset of hosts China, a victory that served as a launchpad to reach the last eight.

However, on Thursday they weren't able to stop the strong play of Philippines center Marcus Douthit, who had 14 points, 12 rebounds and a couple of steals.

Douthit is likely to give way to Brooklyn Nets center Andray Blatche in the World Cup squad.

Paul John Dalistan was also in fine fettle for Gilas with a team-high 15 points.

Ranidel De Ocampo finished with 13 points.

Dalistan (3 of 4) and De Ocamp (2 of 2) were the Philippines' main weapons from the arc.

Amritpal Singh had a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds in defeat for India.

The Philippines were on top by 17 midway through the last frame but India battled and ended up outscoring them 19-10 to lose by just four.

In the day's first Quarter-Final, Chinese Taipei claimed a 76-62 win over Japan.

China, who bounced back from their surprise defeat to India with a win over Japan, cruised to an 84-37 victory against Singapore in the last game of the day.

China face Chinese Taipei in Friday's other Semi-Final.
